Hi, I just wondered if any or many of you carry something like a notepad around with you to write ideas as they come or to put down an amusing incident or sentence you have just heard.
I have found it a boon and sometimes reading through my old notes I laugh loudly at some of the things I have heard or seen.
It is my intention to string a lot of these together to write a comedy piece, be it a comedy drama or long sketch.
To sort of weave the narrative around the already written 'funny's'
So tell me if you will, is this next sentence funny. I ask because I laugh everytime but it might just be me.
A friend telling me just after he had been to a popular food outlet for the first time. ' they need to change the name of that place to SPUD YOU DON'T FUCKING LIKE'
It has been called that by me ever since.
Then another friend of mine was excited about going to an awards cerimony where he was going to get an award. I asked him about it later and he double banjaxed me.
He said he had a great time and they presented him with a silver SLAVER (sic) I said SLAVER?? He looked at me with a look of pity and patience and said quietly 'it's a sort of silver tray Ronnie' Aaaargh but surely comedy gold.
And of course Spoonerisms crop up all the time, I have a section at the back of my notebook where I either think of them or hear them.
A neice that always reffered to popcorn as cockporn
and someone who was about to lay the table for Christmas dinner said 'will you get the knackers and crapkins.
