Why?

It's a brilliant sitcom. Groundbreaking and trend setting.

Any American examples of the genre? I can only think of That Seventies Show.

Everybody Hates Chris.

Has anyone mentioned MASH?

Agree Roseanne had its moments, particularly in the early years. Love that several - three - of the actors now appear in Big Bang, the best American sitcom since the end of Frasier.

Tonight watching the premiere of a new American sitcom Free Agents. I have high hopes for it...Hank Azeria and Katherine Hahn.

- Clarence
- The Magnificent Evans

The Magnificent Evans

Was that actually a period sitcom, or was he just eccentric? A while since I watched it, admittedly.

I should have known... I liked it way too much!

Anthony Head is in the American version, too.

There's a few more American -

Hogan's Heroes
The Secret Diary of Desmond Pfeiffer
Dusty's Trail
The Wonder Years

Freaks And Geeks. Though it's not strictly a sitcom.
