Circalit: Get Your Film Made Page 2

I considered this but ultimately I wasn't won over by the Director's film.

Not great was it?

Not great was it?

It wasn't for me.

I realise it might sound brash for a writer to make the decision to reject a director on the basis of their work but maybe that's because it tends only to go the other way.

Still, fair play to him and I wish him the best of luck with his project.

It sounds fair enough. Why work on something that doesn't excite (or pay you)?

It's not that the concept isn't exciting - I happen to have a short that fits the brief pretty well. It's just so easy to make a professional looking short these days, so why hand your script over to someone unless you think the world of them?

That's what I meant. If the collaboration with this director doesn't ignite anything, then there's no point. I'm agreeing with you, Dave. But I understand you wouldn't want to be misinterpreted.

Just go for it, the feedback can really help improve your work (despite some of the deliberate shite reviews you get)...

I'm no expert reviewer but I'll certainly give your stuff the once over with honest, positive critique...

I hope this isn't aimed at my review of your script. If you think I was unfair and have affected your chances then I will delete the review.

Btw, if anyone is interested here's my script...

Can't we just naked rassle this thing out?

I don't think you've actually entered the competition...

I have entered, hence my earlier :(

I'll get the grease.

I found your project but it doesn't appear to be entered into the actual competition, have another look...

Why, you got a guilty conscious or something...?

TBH your review was fair and honest, thanks...

I was referring to some entrants, and their friends, that have deliberately panned some projects and have got their mates to score themselves highly, there's a bit of a debate in the 'Discuss Circalit' groups going on about it at the moment...

Yikes, you're right, thanks a lot Red.

That's annoying. Why do people even bother?
It's been a baptism of fire for me, threw myself in deep but have sorted out the formatting now (I think) and made some changes to the story.

The Circalit site is a nightmare to use. Bit hazy about the rules of this competition, too. If there's a peer review system in place, what happens to entries posted right at the 11th hour of the deadline?

From what I can make out, only joined it a couple of days ago, the competitions are judged by whoever hosts the individual comp, so the reviews are not what counts. That is the ideal anyway, what happens in reality may be another matter.

Yeah that's correct. Good luck! I will try to read your script a bit later.

For the most part I've found the feedback incredibly useful and indepth on Circalit. I'm actually amazed by how much time people have spent on the reviews. And grateful of course!
