British Comedy Guide

Greetings from Beertown.

A very few words to say how pleased I am to have fallen over this site.

At grave times like these we need all the comedy we can get. Am still grieving over the death of 'Ideal' but happy that British comedy, and Sitcom in particular, is so alive.

To you, to me.

Great words there. True comedy never dies it just rests for a while

As a beer fanatic from across the pond, what is considered "Beer Town" in the UK? I hope it's not an actual place name.

Hello and welcome aboard.

Wave Hi there.

It's Burton on Trent, about 30 miles down the road from where I live. It's the home of British brewing, and also Marmite, which is made from the leftover brewing yeast.

:P Hi love the name, I'm from Manchester any connection?

It's Burton on Trent

As a home brewer I'm very familiar with the place; I didn't know it had a nickname. Many brewers "Burtonize" their water by adding minerals to mimic the infamous water's chemistry.

I've never heard it before. Seems it's more of an occasional term, even lesser than a 'nickname'.
