Extras Christmas Special Page 23

Sorry but has everyone forgotten that Extras was co-written by Stephen Merchant too? So he's all these things too? Even though he's character and persona are different?

I don't agree with Godot's arguments in that you can't know all the things you are saying, you are just speculating what's in his psyche. People aren't so simple to generalise like that. Again, I don't see any point holding that against the show as, like I said, you will never know who else on tv is a dickhead but you'll still watch the programmes.

You are just creating your own barriers to not enjoy something while you could just watch a bbc3 sketch show instead (wahay!)

I was away over Christmas, so this is my first chance to comment on this show. The thing that really struck me is that in the end, far from being an attack, it actually seemed a bizarre celebration of Big Brother. It was only after Andy Millman had appeared on the reality show that he realised he'd been neglecting the most important thing in his life (his brain damaged Scottish friend). In other words, Andy Millman became just one more Big Brother contestant who'd "gone on a jorney in the house" and "learnt something about himself".

As for the rest of it, there were some funny scenes, but nothing we hadn't seen before, and the satire seemed pretty Janet and John in it's obviousness.

Oh yes thats the question I was going to ask. Do you think that Andy and the idiot Scottish girl got it on? And did she awkwardly try to hide the Michelin Man doll she had as a child before they did it?

someone said that Gervais actually like Big Brother and that makes him a hypocrit - err, no: it means the character he is playing doesn't like it.

No, it makes him a twat. :P

*cries* Leave Ricky alone!

Laughing out loud If only he had a load of money to comfort himself with :( Life is so unfair

Godot my old fella, if you'll just come south of the river with me at this time of night, while I often agree with you I can't on this one.

Laughing out loud

No, he's just not as prolific or vocal in his opinions, so it's harder to comment.

That's right, people that are successful and earn money in their own right deserve to be abused! :P

Yep, otherwise how can the system be justified. Are we meant to feel sorry for the rich and give them more protections? Not in my world laddy, not in my world *plays revolutionary anthem* :)

And give money to the poor, feckless fools who refuse to do any work.

Yeah, that'll solve aaaaaaall of our problems.

I agree, therefore its harder to comment on Gervais as we don't know how much of these shows are based on Merchant's opinion.

Merchant isn't really tall, it's just that Ricky is really small, for you see - he is Merchants puppet!

Yeah, that'll solve aaaaaaall of our problems.

And I suppose allowing a small minority to own the majority of wealth and resources is a recipe for utopia? Blooming Gervais I blame him for capitalism now *shakes fist and sickle*

Exactly, you should pay a price for doing something good, that will encourage generations to come.

If they built them, earned them, bought them, then yes.
