Show Me The Funny Page 10

First guy Died, but the others have done well so far

This performance bit is fine. But 'the week before' stuff this week has been so boringggggg.

Alf deserved to go I think, he did nothing 'til last week and committed one or two cardinal sins this week. Stu's won me over some what! I thought him and Pat did really well from what I've seen...

Though I think TB is right in that it'd be a lot easier when you're writing for such a specific demographic, as Stu proved with the neck stuff, knowing there'd be guys with big necks. Just pander to them a bit and it's like shooting fish in a barrel.

Dan was a lucky boy, he made a pigs ear of that, and I'm hoping Elle goes next week I think.

The one who went had a bad one alright. That showed just how bad stand up can be. What was he going on about? Saxons and leeks? Cringe factor 10. In no other form of comedy do you get so much random rubbish! Do people pay just to cringe at someone?

The one at the end wobbled too, on his home turf. I don't think he'll win it, too inconsistent. Only two of them are consistently 'good' and look like they've been at it a while. The clown and one of the women, who I see winning the thing.

I fear for Elle in the live final if she makes it. That could be awkward, I reckon.

Pat, Tiff and Dan are able to hold it together in the live final, methinks.

Aren't reality shows all about things being awkward? Was she judged by her performance do you reckon, or this yet to happen freezing at the final? And so what if it's live? All stand up is live.

Pat, Dan or Tiff to win. I think they're the clear leaders.

Boom, baby.

Looking on the website, it looks like the tour is only for 13 days, and isn't just the winner, likewise with the DVD, it'll be Show Me The Funny, not the winner on their own. So I guess the prize isn't so good after all.

Fascinating. The tour (at which the DVD will be recorded) was sold as being just the winner, as has the entire series. Presumably they've decided that none of the 3 will be ready enough with enough strong, consistent material to support a full show alone. What a backtrack.

Good sets so far.

Tiff was robbed!

Yeah, she was good. I thought the Welsh bloke was funny too though. I liked Pat's set least.

The order they chose for them said it all.

3rd, 2nd then 1st.

They wanted Pat to win & gave him the best chance.

They wanted Pat to win & gave him the best chance.

It looked like that to me too. Other comments they made in the previous shows had me thinking they wanted him to win it. I think they thought the woman was his biggest threat so they stuck her on first. You could see she didn't like this when they were told.

However, because she's a rare female, and she has her own style very much, I see her having a bigger future, especially on TV. The one in the middle could put a black wig on and be a Max Boyce copy act if he get's that desperate, which I think he possibly will.

Manford himself wasn't much better than any of them, though! He has the stand up look, the delivery, the confidence, all of it, then out comes a load of weak, unfunny rubbish, a bit like a lot of them these days.

I honestly think Pat shouldn't have been there-Ellie seemed to have more charisma, okay she wasn't as good a stand-up, but you felt you wanted her to get somewhere. Pat, no.

I wouldn't be at all surprised to see the winner on Cbeebies soon. That's where a lot of big name comics end up now, so maybe that's the best he can do out of this. His childish clowny style would be perfect for it.

But if that Tiff gets a proper writer/manager then I see her having a much bigger career, as she has the persona already. Her material is too flimsy at the mo, she needs help to spice it up. It's unavoidable, if she wants to be a success, she'll have to do more stuff about sex.

But I hope she avoids going down the Sarah Millican route of piling on the pounds so she can use up barrells full of female weight and eating jokes. That is very overdone and far too predictable now. Do something different, please!
