If You're Reading This It's Already Too Late...

Some of you may have seen this project of mine on Facebook already but in case you haven't, here it is, six years in the making...

I'm currently trying to make inroads with a publisher in case anyone has any suggestions or leads.

They're good. But isn't it vandalism?

Do you ask that question looking for a moral answer or are you suggesting it might be an impediment to the pictures getting published?

I love them they are very reminesent of Vic Reeves doodles

But yes they are vandalism, serial vandalism

You'll end up getting deported like Gary Mcinnon

Second one.

I like this, I like it a lot.

Is it vandalism, is it art, I don't care, either way it made me laugh.

Second one.

Didn't stop Banksy, and he didn't even have the decency to hide his vandalism.

Thanks very much.

Cheers, I certainly take that as a compliment.

I love the title. As soon as I saw it I wished I'd used it in some way.

Undecided about the pieces, but they're funny so you're already ahead of most art stuff ever. Will re-look over time and see if I reckon they're worth 6 years ;-)

No idea why I winked there.

Drunk.

I've always thought they'd make a good book! Good luck with it.

Thanks for the encouragement, chaps and chapettes.

It's been a while so there are some new additions to the album. Come take a look if you've got the spuds for it...

I was looking at these on your 1996 website just the other day.

First of all, the vast majority of them are well funny. I stay in a lot of hotels (due to my job, not because I am (yet) homeless) and I can honestly say I would appreciate it if I were to open a drawer or whatever and find some of these messages.

However, unless you have permission, it is graffiti and therefore criminal damage (as far as I gather). This could be problematic both for a publisher and for you.

It's true that Banksy does the same kind of thing but that's why he keeps anonymous (plus his work thrives on the mystique).

A straight-laced publisher might get jumpy.

Moreover, if you put your name to it, a hotelier looking for revenge/cash/both might get onto his lawyers and judges aren't known for their sense of humour.

"But it's funny, your honour!"
"Send him down!"

I think a pseudonym should be employed.

I'll tell you what, if you want I'll run a pseudo art review of your work on the Rake & Herald. This is, after all, the new street art. Room art we could call it.

Thanks for taking a look, Mister Rake.

I completely take your point but I fear the cat may already be out of the bag in terms of me keeping my anonimity. Certainly there's the option of using a pseudonymn were I to be published in book form but a little bit of Googling would turn up my name with minimal effort.

You raise an interesting point though; is the publisher not liable for reproducing works of vandalism? Are they vindicated just because they say they don't know the identity of their author? Or do they defray legal costs with profits from their book sales? Certainly with the Banksy book that came out a few years back I expect the publisher could easily afford to hire a crack team of lawyers were they to encounter any legal difficulties.

Clearly, I really don't know how all this works.

Sadly, neither do I. But you're secret's safe with me.

I dunno Bussell you went all through this when you published

"hilarious cat murders of the 1980s"
