So... you're calling him talentless then...? ;)

Apparently he's been quite mean. But only to the talentless ones. Which is rather refreshing. I think the reason he's doing the show is to actually let through the good people and keep out the morons. Revolutionary thinking, I know.

But surely it's the morons that make the show? Like on BB.

Well they still get to audition on telly, but not get through to the next bit.

Although, since the other three judges are idiots, I'm sure he'll get outvoted, so the viewers who want morons will still get some.

My prediction is that they'll put the singer who sang "Copper Bell" in Louis' category and he will put her through to the finals, She will get quite far but not win. Louis will then sign her up and she will have moderate success as a novelty act, like Jedward.

Also I do think that Gary is being unnecasarily mean.

If you get some arrogant prick who thinks they're wonderful and turns out to be shit, then really slate them, that's fair game.
But to make humiliating comments about those who are lacking in talent but are nice people is just cruel and unnecasary.

A simple, "sorry I don't think your voice is strong enough", or something similar, would be fine. Even Simon Cowell was kind to the "nice but talentless" ones.

My name is Shandonbelle and I watch X Factor every year... ;)
We kind of know what to expect by now and that is the auditions will be littered with the soso's and downright laughable with a few talented finds in the mix. The auditions are really the best bit and the programme makers know this, why else would they now have the good, the bad and and ugly (personality wise at least) filmed in in front of a live audience? before it used to be just the judges and the home audience.

I liked the little Irish girl, but like Zooo said, she was way too like Ellie G, but with a voice like that she could very much sing anything, hope she doesn't play it too safe in future.

As for Gary Barlow...yum...but then again, I'm SB and I'm a Take That fan.

Yes - I think so.

Also I do think that Gary is being unnecessarily mean.

You sound like PC Goody !

Seriously - why does anybody waste their time watching this rubbish?

It's just car-crash TV. There is nothing intentionally entertaining or creative in these types of programmes and these shows are on at the expense of creatively written shows - making it harder for you and me to get anything produced.

X-Factor has narrative and drama, that's why it's watchable. The singing is secondary.

I just can't resist a montage

We all like a bit of rubbish at times. It's not worth getting riled up over.

Two types of people who watch this show. Actually there are three. The first type is a genuine fan of it and loves seeing who's going to win. The second type watches it for the "funny auditions". The third type watches it for the funny auditions but gets sucked in and watches til the end.

I'm normally the third.

Yup. And repeating to myself 'I'm only watching for the funny auditions' even though it's November and I'm weeping over a particularly manipulative and trashy montage

The funny auditions are quality but the seriousness of the show overall is cringeworthy, all in all it is in my opinion the most hatable show of all time.

It is just a karaoke, what they add to the show with the stories, judges, intensity and general BS is laughable. The arrogance of the music they play when the judges are seating sum's it up for me.
