Ha, mine actually does. Those blood pressure test thingies make me so nervous they always have to do it 2 or 3 times to get a normal reading.

As a rather large person they have to use the extra bug cuff and it takes about 5 minute until I'm properly squeezed.

I quite like the feeling.

I do worry myself at times.

Oh I hate it. Feels like my arm's going to pop. Freaks me right out.

I hope it works out, I really do. I've had bad experiences with therapists in the past, you see.

Thanks everyone for caring so much.

Therapists are like shoes and underpants. You're never comfortable till you find the one who fits.

I think the pressure only pops one persons head off out of every 100,000

Next time you see the GP ask when was the last time he pumped someone's head off.

nb if it helps admitting you need help and considering you need to find it. Is a good sign that underneath all the issues you're basically pretty sound.

Ditto

Just had an email from Friendsreunited with photo of boys from school. Oh, the nostalgia!

Yesterday, as I strode around London, I spotted Steven Merchant at Waterloo with James King (Film Critic), and then in Gosh Comics, one of those men from the old annoying Doritos ads.

Some excellent advice so far. You may benefit from reading the Mind site, they really are very good.
If you decide to write stuff down for the doc, or to remind you what to say, I suggest a few concise bullet points to get the message across. You can elaborate if you want to.
If you don't feel the doc is being helpful, you could try asking for a referral. That is no slight on your doc's ability but a reasonable patient request.
Regarding therapists, as someone said earlier, there is definitely no 'one size fits all' and you are entitled to shop around. It may be worth looking into what type of therapy is on offer and think about what might suit you best, eg person centered, CBT and so on.
Regarding medication, some people are reluctant to go down that route, mainly I think because of the way it was used in the past and stories of addiction and so on.
Nowadays it can be extremely useful to get you to a place where you feel you can tackle the things that are making you feel like you do.
If you do end up just crying, then the doc will at least know how things are. Leave the bullet point list and make an appointment to go back and discuss it when you feel ready.
There are options out there, it's just difficult to wade through them when you feel overwhelmed. Take a step at a time and accept all the support that you can get.

Thanks, Loopey. Today has been another "one of those days" and seeing as the doctor's appointment is on Tuesday morning and I'm busy tomorrow, I guess that the doctor is the first port of call for now. I am also reluctant to start on medication, so I'll have to try everything else first. I did look at the Mind site, but it was like midnight and any time at all after about 9 is a bad time for me to start reading things that might upset me!

Seriously, thank everyone for being so kind.

Also, the Mind site is annoying because it keeps suggesting I decided to be upset all the time. I know it's all about attitude blah blah but I've tried to think myself out of it repeatedly to no avail. Sigh. :(
