Lots of people write down what they want to say to their doctor, and take a little list in! So I've been told.
I reckon I'd just go in, sit down and give them the list. :)

Cool. Laura will be annoyed, I tuned down the chance to go shoe shopping in Milton Keynes today.

You FOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL!

Maybe. I am so tempted to just cancel it until "I'm ready" but I know that'll be never.

What do you need/do you still?

Robyn is tired and has apparently been having a rough few days.

Finally found it almost on the doorstep! A man's jacket for a play. Could have saved myself a lot of trouble if I'd bought it first time round but I thought it was too big (it wasn't).

Sorry to hear you're feeling low. If the doctor isn't good, do you have a practice nurse who might be easier to talk to? But you mustn't just ignore it.

Came downstairs to find the fox sitting patiently, staring into the room, waiting for his snack.

did the fox bring it?

Naturally not. He has eaten gammon scraps and vanished.

eBay is wondrous for costumes tbh. Charity shops need a search function, I've decided.

And the problem with nurses is they tend to be slightly more gossipy than doctors. I know thee's confidentiality blah blah but my mum is a nurse, and so she knows everyone at my practice personally - especially the nurses. My parents don't even know I'm going because they tend to think they can fix everything because they know me/because mum is a nurse but it just makes it more difficult. Sob story blah blah...

That's difficult. Is there a different doctor if you don't like the present one? Alternatively, is there a student health service you can use? When I was a student I went through a neurotic period and didn't trust my GP to help, so went to the Student Health Service and they helped me.

I don't even see one set doctor because the practice is so busy. I tried to get a female doctor this time round, but there were no appointments in the foreseeable future. Even this appointment, made three weeks ago, had to be rearranged. I probably have a Student Health Service type thing, too, but nothing is really in operation over summer and because I live at home I tend to be out of the loop with this kind of thing having not been used to using the services when I was in halls and they were the easiest facility to use. :(

nb if GP practise not upto snuff then just change it.

'tis your right and all.

Or for quicker treatment goto a NHS walkin clinic attached to a hospital with a casualty dept. You'll get seen they usually have GPs or them new NHS mega nurses both of whom can help.

either way hope you feel better.

I lived at home too and there was a bit of reluctance about treating me, but they did. If you can hang on in till term time it's worth a thought.
As Sootyj says, you could transfer to another place. I think you just go there with your card and ask to be registered. Obviously the question is - would somebody tell your mother so it would become an issue?

What are they going to tell your mum?

To be blunt a breach of confidence that massive would cost someone their job.
And if you trust your mum, I suspect she wouldn't want to know neither.

I think you should focus on getting better and not let worries about confidentiality stop you getting the help you need.

It's not so much that I think they'll "tell on me", but some of them do know me as primarily her daughter, and that can be scary.

I've been there are on some "ahem" personal issues.

And generally once it's professional they switch into an entirely diferent mode.

If that's still an issue for heavens sake change surgeries ASAP put up with the inconvenience of a bus ride. Because whatever the situation avoiding support just isn't an option.

But the best people to ask are NHS direct or the NHS website.

It's not so easy when you're amidst it to be honest. I'd feel terrified whoever I spoke to. I am not quite so chatty when what I have to say is "I'm upset all the time". I know avoiding things isn't an option but right now it seems easiest, and so definitely an option!
