Not Going Out - Series 2 Page 47

Got the DVD of series 1.

Great interview with Mack and Vine - really funny and informative. They're a great partnership.

3 commentaries too with Mack and the director - again, funny and a good listen with some nice background info. Shame Andrew Collins wasn't on them, and that not all the episodes were done.

It's just a shame all comedy DVD's pale in comparison with the Red Dwarf ones. I'd like to have seen some of the pilot stuff with Catherine Tate, and a few more interviews.

But worth getting for sure.

If I was in control of NGO, I would have Lee and Lucy almost about to hook up but then Tim ends up moving into the flat, so then Lee and Lucy back off. Then Lucy and Lee can have an endless string of meaningless relationships that lead to hilarity (like in Seinfeld, Jerry, George and Elaine had like a different bf/gf every episode!), but the true underlining bond is always between Lucy and Lee and you play off that for how ever many series you do. Just don't over-egg it, let it fade into the background so that people aren't saying "just bloody kiss and get it over with"...have it so it's always in the backs of peoples minds and when the time eventually comes for them to get together, then really start pushing it.

But I suppose it's easy for me to say that as I'm not an established writer in charge of a hit sitcom. :)

Well Andrew hinted that they would have the three living together on this very board. The premise is pretty much two flatmates 'Not Going Out' with each other because of another factor. Series one: Tim's ex, Series Two: Guy, and Tim moving in would be the next logical step. Especially as Tim is very popular.

It would be interesting to see Lee have his head turned by another lady for once and Lucy to get jealous. Tim could take on the role of the 'cleaner' character. You can see him wearing a pink apron now can't you? Or is just me?

Yes.

Really wish I couldn't though.

Quite agree. But I wasn't told, or asked, as they were apparently done without much warning. (Also, I hadn't been at the studio recordings and was thus a bit out of the loop when it all came to pass. That's what happens when you slip back into anonymity! But I was working on another sitcom at the time, which I'll be able to write about when it's announced.) I was delighted to be able to do two episode commentaries with Simon Day for the Grass DVD, though, of which I remain immeasurably proud. Mainly because less people saw it, and it never got a second series, so it has become more precious.

Oo, a new sitcom! Will it be as much of a quick-fire gag-fest as NGO was/is?

I refer you to my original comment.

Although I will say that it's someone else's sitcom - I was just working on it. Not wishing to mislead.

Bah! Spoilsport! Ok then, I shall wait...

Not like some kind of creepy pervert-type in an alleyway of course. (I'll leave that to SlagA. Seems more of his 'scene'. ;))

Good luck with it anyway! :)

so it has become more precious.

That's a great way to look at it.

:)

Thought I'd put this on here.

Radio 4 - Tuesday's at 18.30

Miranda Hart serves up a cocktail of stand-up, sketches, song and dance, aided and abetted by Sharon Horgan, Kim Wall and special guests.

In a desperate attempt to recapture her youth Miranda hosts a pre-clubbing party before a night on the tiles.

With additional material by Sharon Horgan, John Finnemore and Tony Roche.

I know you'll all be tuning in
Huh?

Yeah... Sat on a train just out of Paddington, tuned into Radio 4 for that.

On second thoughts, I think I'll stick to my London Lite.

I listened to this last week - it was quite fun. Some of it fell flat, but there were a couple of good characters that made me laugh. The non-PC guy was one.

Here's the Listen Again link... http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/aod/radio4_aod.shtml?radio4/mirandahart

I just listened to that today too. I liked the pregnant friend sketch, talking in her baby's voice. Funny.

Without making this into a big Andrew Collins song and dance - I heartily recommend his three part autobiography.

I read the first book on holiday in Tuscany, which is a good place to be reading.

Back to NGO - I hope the second series DVD has a few more extras and more people on the commentaries. That would be dead good.

Are you a sitcom Red Adair?

You seem to get drafted in - presumably, in part, due to your EastEnders training? - to get sitcoms in order and working.

Don't forget repeats of series 1 on The Paramount Comedy Channel.

when does it start?
