Even if she's not 'supposed to be a role model', she should be more aware of the impression she gives and encourage positive messages of empowerment.

Who is a positive pop role model?
Of course they've always used sex appeal. But no one could watch a selection of music videos from the '80s or '90s and then a selection from now and not see a remarkable difference.

I can name plenty, can you?

Cliff Richard.
Adele, Alicia Keyes, Missy Elliot, Leona Lewis, Pink. All successful, talented, and none have to show cleavage to sell their records. I'm sure they'd sell more if they wore lower tops, but who needs another Saturdays?
Isn't Beyonce a role model for fuller figured women?
You think Beyonce is 'fuller figured'?
She sho' got some junk in that trunk, das fo' sho'.
Sorry.

F**k knows. I'm drunk and can't remember the last time I saw a Beyonce video. All I know is that anybody looking to the shallow, self-serving and narcisistic world of pop for role models is in trouble.
I'm not disputing that, she is a fine figure of a woman. My point is: if I want to watch her videos, I don't really want to have to explain to my nieces that you don't have to wear plunging necklines and belts as skirts to be succesful.
If I want to see her in lingerie, I can Google it without reinforcing any steroetypes.

Mmm indeed!
Evidently you haven't watched a music video channel for quite a while and therefore can't really comment with any knowledge on the matter!
