I've just downloaded four series of Down The Line, one of my new favourites, and seven series of The Unbelievable Truth. Not sure when I started listening to TUT so, hopefully, plenty of new laughs to come.

Where did you get The Unbelievable Truth downloads?

This is being repeated again soon - I can recommend it if youve not heard it before. The last episode in particular is fantastic!

Not heard it? I used to watch it on BBC on Saturday nights in the 1960s. Hardly a comedy though is it?

You must be thinking of something else mate

it's never been on TV and it only first aired in the late 90's

and it's vert much a comedy

don't know what your thinking of

When I first clicked on it it came up with Dixon of Dock Green with David Tennent. Don't know how though. It's now a spoof classical music programme. Is that what you meant?

yep!

its very funny

its about a middle aged married couple that present a radio show about classical music but they can't stand eachother and are constantly arguing during the show

I've just put a bunch of stuff to listen to on my iPod, including 'Hut 33', 'Bigipedia', 'Cabin Pressure' and 'All Bar Luke'.

Oh, and Party and Lucy Montgomery's sketch show.

Party is ace!

Sorry you don't much like Hut 33, Mr Lofthouse. You'll be pleased to know that you've been put out of your misery and it's been axed (which is a pity for me as I rather enjoyed writing it).

Not being funny, but I'd be genuinely interested to know what you do like. I'm a fan of Cabin Pressure (obviously), Bleak Expectations, Giles Wemmbley-Hogg, Count Arthur Strong and Bigipedia. Can never quite get into Ed Reardon or Clare in the Community, but everyone else seems to like them.

And please please please let's get over this myth of canned laughter. Studio audiences laugh. They just do. It may be baffling at home, but if you hear a laugh, it's genuine. On Milton Jones's show, we sometimes have to cut down laughs that go on too long. Can't work out why this canned laughter myth keeps circulating.

A very good Just A Minute last night. I particularly enjoyed Nicholas Parsons taking part in a round and awarding himself points.

If it's any consolation, sitcomgeek, I very much enjoyed Hut 33. I'm surprised it didn't get more than three series as it had a stellar cast and seemed like one of those shows that had the legs to run for a while.

I simply go off laugh ratio

Listened to Hut 33 about three times and just sat there stoney faced. Not so much as a smile. Not a flicker.

Hence Hut 33 going on my 'avoid like the black death' list.

I listened to the first Ep of 'Party' yesterday, and loved it. Can't wait to listen to the rest, it was brilliant.

Also been enjoying Cabin Pressure and Hut 33.

Nice to see you posting 'sitcomgeek'. Hope all is going well with IED.

Revisiting 'And another thing' on 4Xra. I listened to this when it was on R4 when the book came out and it didn't quite chime. I decide to give it another go and after trying really really hard to be fair, I still think it's sh*t. It's HHGG by numbers and sadly Colfer hasn't got the balance right. Don't know what it is. Lack of Arthur? Not enough tea? Probably principally not enough Ford and his few ethics. But most likely it suffers from the same problem as the film. No Douglas.

I've been listening to this, having not read the book or heard the radio series before. I think initially I avoided it in case I was disappointed. I don't think it's *that* bad. It was interesting to see where the characters went, and to hear more from Random, but there was a sense that Colfer was trying to tick all the familiar boxes.

All Bar Luke gets the thumbs up from me. Not 'current', but good.
