I read the news today oh boy! Page 445

Some guy with a gun was shot by police. There was some sort of small peaceful protest, then lots of idiots decided to use it as an excuse to smash stuff up.

Basically violent idiots being violent and idiotic.

Cheers. Makes a bit more sense now, I think.

Actually Leevil it's about Dave Cameron's %2000 sandwich tax and European union rules banning cheese and bread being used in the same sandwich.

It's gone viral.

The Egyptians overthrew their oppressive government.

The British are trying to overthrow JD Sports.

Laughing out loud

CHANT#
What do we want?
-Dunno, I've forgotten.
When do we want it?
-After Corrie. And put the kettle on.

All we are saying is eat peas in France!

Just got back. Went in opposite direction but everywhere all around boarded up. Violence spilling into back streets and surrounding areas. Just had to try to call ambulance for guy who's been stabbed and beaten with metal pole. Networks and emergency services jammed so took really long time. Lots of young people getting angry on various streets about stories police are letting witnesses be beaten up without intervening. Lots of gangs in black with hoods up on bicycles around. Looks like a huge fire by the main riots. A really bad vibe

:O
Flipping heck.

Seriously enough with the pussyfooting, bring out the water cannons.

Call the BBC newsdesk. Seriously.

Looting aside, the attacks on the police force are not that surprising. Approval of the police in the UK seems to be at a massive low, with The Met facing fierce criticism from so many corners. The latest shooting is just one of a series of recent scandals, and although many of the rioters probably aren't that concerned with the actual shooting, it's acting as a catalyst and forcing all of the bad blood to the surface. Law needs to inspire either respect or fear (not the preferable option), and ours doesn't seem to do either.

We can criticise the rioters all we like (frankly I think they're a bunch of pricks) but there needs to be some serious discussion about why so many people have acted so violently.

It's a sad state of affairs.

That's the first sensible thing you've said in ages.

And do you think that Dave's really going to interrupt his holiday to stop London burning?

And make the rioters pay for the privillege of being doused

(or bring a friend)

That seems inevitable now.

Boris is already coming back.

And we all know that Boris likes to tackle a problem head-on...

BBC news is showing that fire in Peckham live. Looks really bad.
