Songwriting help

Howdy.

I have been asked to write a song for a band who will be performing it at a local music festival in about three weeks. The song is to fit the cantina theme from the original Star Wars. The song is a quick and upbeat piece of music.

The thing is, I haven't got a clue what to write about, never mind something that scans with the music. If someone was kind enough to write the first couple of lines that would maybe give me the kick up the arse that I need and then I would be able to add to it.

WHat is the general subject matter for the song?

Hi Marc.

The guy asked me if I could help write a song. That's about as far as the brief goes, if you call that a brief. There is no subject matter thus far. It could be about absolutely anything.

Is it supposed to be funny?
Is there a theme to the festival?
What are their usual songs like?
Why do they want it to the star wars tune?
Why are you writing it?!

Humourous-ish song preferred yes. The theme of the festival is sunflowers. I haven't seen them live. They are Star Wars fans. I was asked to write it and I said yes.

Cheeky git!

Why not find something similar in that style of music? I'm not sure what music that is, sounds a bit jazzy 30s/40s. Listen to similar songs of that era.

Or just work out a chorus and go from there.

Nigel what about just a long list of foodstuffs.

Ham and eggs and beans on toast, scrambled eggs and coleslaw.
Fish and chips and buttered rolls with tomato sauce and extra mayo

Pork, beef, pie, peas... get them on my plate!

Mutton pie, mutton pie, mutton pie and gravy...

And so on.

I checked to see if there's one that looks like Cliff wearing a beret but sadly there's not

I did once write some lines for Darren Day if that is any consolation??
