How Not To Live Your Life axed Page 2

This is a shame. I liked the narration style of this, it really worked and Dan Clark can be pretty funny. Has anybody ever seen The Estate Agents that he co-wrote? It was on C4 in the early 2000s. Bizarre but had some great moments.

Yeah I found The Estate Agents online about a year-and-a-half ago and I thought it was a funny show, and merited at least another series (worth noting that the two other guys he was with in that show, Adam J Goodwin and Cliff Kelly were in a sketch troupe with Dan called Electric Eel and they both had cameos in How Not To Live Your Life series 3, one as Barry Fairdog, the guy Don helps out when he's mistaken for a temp at the Whitgift building, and the other was a barman who did the pub quiz).

I also think Dan Clark's pretty funny. I saw him in Southampton on his stand-up tour in April and although he seemed to go down a little flat with the audience I thought he was funny, funnier than a lot of naff stand-ups that are on the telly these days.

I am gutted it's not returning but I'm waiting very impatiently for the Christmas special. I would love to see him end up with Samantha but I feel that won't happen. Maybe we'll see a return of Abby and Karl?

Abby and Karl were great for the show, that would be a good way to go out. Oh you found the Estate Agents online? Briliant, can you send me the link? Haven't seen it since it was broadcast as it never got a DVD release.

Have all the series of HNTLYL been released on DVD now?

Maybe Clark's new-found popularity might get it a DVD release soon. It's an underrated show as far as I'm concerned.

Thanks for the link mate! I couldn't agree more, I love the surreal writing and visual gags.

Funny thing is it was shown in 2002 and got about a million viewers at 11pm, according to Dan Clark's site. Channel 4 considered it bad ratings and axed it. Peep Show gets about the same amount of viewers and will have at least 9 series. Shows how much TV's changed in the last nine years.

I'm all for revisionism but I remember The Estate Agents as being pretty awful.

Ah, I think your memory's playing tricks on you ;)

Each to their own innit. I liked it probably because I like Dan Clark and it appeals to me in the way Bottom does with his ludicrously violent, slapstick approach.

Surprised at this, especially being mentioned in the same breath as Lunch Monkeys and Coming of Age. Lots of axing going on. Surprised as there isn't a lot of great new stuff coming out. Risk.

The final episode/Christmas special is on Thursday at 9pm on BBC Three. It should be good.

Loved it.

"I will step over you." :D Great Christmas song too. :D

Ha "Dan went onto write his memoirs entitled 'How Not To Live Your Life', which was later turned into a BBC1 sitcom starring James Corden"! Laughing out loud

That were ace, that.

This was just absolutely wonderful. Bloody brilliant. What a foolish, foolish decision, Zai Bennett.

Gollum went poo poo.
