I'm a stand-up comedian with a difference. I'm not funny. I'm totally UNfunny but I make a living because I make everyone else look funny by comparison. Other comedians love me and many actually refuse to appear at any gig unless I go on before them.
It's better than working.

Talking about Stewart Lee (as Nil was), Stewart Lee and I were once on the same bill at the Comedy Store.
That's what it says on my CV anyway but the truth it all happened outside the Comedy Store, not inside it.
I was standing outside the entrance and some guy suddenly lunged at me in comedy monster fashion and I jumped back straight into another guy who turned out to be Stewart Lee and we both fell over and landed in the gutter on top of another guy who turned out to be Bill Bailey.
That how Stewart Lee and I were on the same 'Bill'.
Sometimes, I tell that story in another way. I say I once had a really dirty threesome, rolling around on the floor with two of the UK's top comedians. People say 'Tell us more' and I say 'I can't. They have a super-injunction on me'.
Always make the most of anything that happens to you. Alistair Campbell told me that.
