They couldn't even charge him with any sort of assault.

Actually, Jonathan May-Bowles has "only" been charged with a public order offence because Rupert Murdoch asked for the assault charges to be dropped.

Chicken and egg old bean. And how much is about him and how much about Murdoch and why he did it?

Chicken and egg perhaps; doesn't make you any less wrong though. :)

(And what I've read was squarely about JMB, not Murdoch.)

I don't think it was a smart act but some of the backlash is outrageous. Lucky not to be on a murder charge? You've lost it Aaron.

If you assault someone, and they have a heart attack, which kills them, would you not expect to be on a murder charge?

I suppose you'd only assault someone if it was "justified"... Rolling eyes

You might argue that Murdoch could have had a heart attack under aggressive questioning by the committee. Would that make them murderers? This hypothetical heart attack didn't happen either way though. Lucky MPs!

Pathetic. What a sorry attempt to re-write the argument. I really do pity you.

Thanks!

Who brought up this hypothetical heart attack again?

That's how it would work here.

They weren't committing a crime at the time. Huge difference.

If it makes things any clearer: do I think it was a clever act? No. Do I think he's a bit of a dick for doing it? Yes. Do I think it amounts to a hill of beans? No. Do I think he's lucky not to be on a murder charge? No. Pity me for those opinions all you like.

On one of the reports they had a Twitter quote from Ex girlfriend Elsie Bramich.
Don't we have an Elsie Bramich on the site?

How can throwing a custard pie be a crime? What d'you gonna do, lock up all the clowns?

Legally, I think you can be done for assault just for telling somebody you're going to assault them.

I think it absolutely stinks of self promotion, but we shall just have to disagree!

It stinks to pie heaven you say?

Quote: Badge @ July 24 2011, 4:38 PM BST

I think in the Bible it would be a pie for a pie.

:D

Fnar!

Yes and I also supported the right of people to protest it peacefully. Mr. Marbles could have picketed outside the proceedings, taken out an ad in a newspaper or written a comedy routine if he wanted to "bring attention" to the man at the center of the biggest news story on the planet. But instead he decided to physically assault him.

I meant you could have picketed outside Iraq or taken an advert out in a paper if you wanted to bring to the country at the center of the biggest news story on the planet.

But instead the US decided to physically assault them.

(and lie about shooting 10,000s of people at checkpoints).

What a crock of shit.
