Foreign Holiday Based Sitcoms?

Hi. It's my first post here and I'm hoping someone might be able to help. I'm trying to write something about British sitcoms that're based in foreign holiday resorts and the only two I can think of are Benidorm and Duty Free and was wondering if there are any others you might know about. Even one off 'specials' from series usually rooted at home will be fine.

Thanks in advance.

There's at least one episode of My Family set on holiday abroad.

Check out Carry On Abroad too, although clearly not a sitcom.

Only Fools And Horses went overseas a few times: to Spain in Series 2 IIRC, and of course the Miami Twice double, plus with Rodney's winning painting (about Series 6).

One foot in the Algarve

Outnumbered had a Series 2 episode abroad, although I think it was entirely within the confines of the airport.

On The Buses spin-off Don't Drink The Water could also be of interest.

The Red Dwarf boys went on more than one trip!

The Inbetweeners went on a road trip and, I believe, are going on holiday in the film.

Fresh Fields went French, though they did move rather than go on holiday.

Taking The Flak was set in a war zone; which is kind of like a holiday if you're Bear Grylls or Bruce Parry.

Mr Bean's Holiday?

Thanks for those so far. I've looked up what I think was the Only Fools episode that's been mentioned: 'It Never Rains' from series 2, set in Benidorm. I'll definitely be mentioning Carry on Abroad even if, as you say, it's not a sitcom. Thanks again.

1977 brought us the oh-so-hilarious Are You Being Served? movie. Which saw the gang visit Spain (Costa Plonka, no less).

Jack and Victor had a holiday in Canada I recall

Whoa, whoa, whoa. We've got to the eight posting on this and no-one has mentioned Duty Free? I remember liking that very much - especially Gwen Taylor as Amy, giving her husband, Keith Barron, a hard time, whilst he was trying to get off with drippy Linda. Classic British stage-style hiding-in-wardrobes farce.

Oops. Just saw Duty Free in that first posting. Ignore me. Silly me. So much for my first posting on this website. Sorry everyone. Rookie here.

:D Welcome aboard, James! (Almost missed Duty Free in the first post myself, being split over 2 lines on my screen.)

The first series of 'The Other One' has the two main characters hoidaying in either Italy or Spain I think. Most of the first series is set there. It was a 70s or early 80s sitcom with Richard Briers.

Ab Fab had a Moroccan holiday episode.

Yes, and a French holiday one which turned out to be a bit of lame copy of or tribute to Withnail And I, iirc.

I cannot believe James' first posting ever was about Duty Free...

And 'Strangers on the Shore' when Del and Rodney visit France to pay their respects at Uncle Albert's naval ceremony and end up with Gary.

'It's canard Del.'
