...yeah, they have 'greeters' elsewhere, like in ASDA. Actually, it would suit wheelchair-users, but I've seen one get the job; instead able-bodied people are made to stand.
Worst job Page 4
when I was 20 I had a job working for a company that put all those shit little magazines with rubbish inventions in them in national newspapers.
My job was to process the orders that came in. I would have to open up 1000's of envelopes each day, and separate the orders into piles. One pile for cheque orders, one for postal orders, one for credit card orders. This is all I would do for 8 hours a day. open envelopes, put them in one of three piles. I was a young lad and nearly everybody else in the office was around the age of 60 and had being doing this shit for years. Life had beaten them, they were f**ked up. I had nobody to talk to about anything in there. Film? no. Books? no. Football? no. Politics? no. No conversation of any worth with anybody while doing this mind numbing bastard of a job. I did that for a year and a half and nearly had a breakdown. The darkest period of my life.
That should be a sitcom.

Many American stores do this. The greeters seem to enjoy it.

They pretend to enjoy it. Then 5 years down the road they're gunning down as many innocent shoppers as they can in a spree killing. It's the American way!
I worked in , I suppose it would be called , a pie making factory.
It's making me shudder now just recalling it to myself.
It was for a bakery chain and their pies and pastries were renowned for being the best in the area.
The meat they bought was either past it's sell by date or condemned from the slaughter house.
It was one blokes job to sniff the raw meat - if it was revolting it went into the cornish pasty's. If it didn't smell too bad, it went into the meat pies.
Part of my job was to cut off the parts of meat that were green, or gone black.
Ooh the smell is still in my nose - and I can't eat a pie to this day.

That really is quite disturbing.
I went to Greggs earlier and the chicken slice, while actually rather tasty, looked of very dubious origins.
Not even apple pie?

Nasty, but I've heard of this happening elsewhere. You don't want to know what goes into some burgers. I'm a pesceterian.

That's how I read it for a moment.
The bakery chain doesn't exist anymore but I think they were bought out by a larger chain.
The green and black meat I had cut off, filled about 20 metal dustbins by the end of the week. This was sent to a dripping factory.
The mere thought of a meat pie turns my stomach. Your story adds weight to my feelings toward such 'food'.

They're typically elderly and genuinely friendly. I don't think I've seen anyone under the age of 60 with the exception of younger people in wheelchairs.
Homemade meat pies are surely the way to go? You know what goes in then. I f**king love pie and miss chicken pies and steak & kidney pies. I can still easily make my own mincemeat type pies though.
Yeah, I've never been into 'meat pies', sounds a bit cartoony and not like a real food.
I do like apple pies though. Yum.
I'm more shocked to see an Aaron post
