Funny song parodies - Critique away :)

Hey guys,

I started making musical song parodies and I'm wondering if these work better when done in normal speed, or when you speed them up a bit, so that the singing becomes a bit cartoonish and 'south park' like. What do you reckon?

For example, my parody for Sandi Thom's 'I wish I was Punk Rocker', entitled 'You wish you were a Full-time Drunk'.

Here's a cartoonish version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HQr2QimlVYA
And here's a normal speed version of the same song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lEjoup5N1t0

Which one do you reckon works best?

And what do you think about my work overall?

Thanks so much!

Cheers,
FunnyOddSongs.

I think what is important in a parody is that is is obvious it is a parody. If I hadn't heard the original of this I wouldn't have known that your lyrics were not the original ones. The lyrics are actually far too sensible - if that makes any sense? This means it is not actually funny.

I didn't understand the words? Are they the same speeded up, or funny ones?

If the latter, maybe subtitles would help.

There is the option to read subtitles. The words were in English.

Thanks for the feedback!
I was trying to create a song where it doesn't have to rely on the original, i.e., can be funny in its own right for somebody who's not familiar with the original. Also, I guess I was going for more 'quirky', rather 'laugh-out loud funny', but yeah... Thanks again.

Same words, but speeded up - you can see the subtitles if you press on CC in the YouTube Video window. Are you saying you couldn't understand the words at all on the quick version? Thanks for your feedback.

I really had trouble with the words - wasn't being sarky.

Put the subtitles on (didn't know about that on YouTube) and it's a funny song.

Did you write the words yourself?

Thanks. Yeah, I wrote them myself. I have 2 more songs of mine on my YouTube channel ( http://www.youtube.com/FunnyOddSongs ) if you want to listen. It's just I'm not the best singer in the world (to put it mildly), so I'm just experimenting with what sort of gimmicks I can come up with to make them stand out. Maybe I'll stop half-way somewhere, where it's quicker than the original, but not by much...

Good vocals, catchy tune, graphics spot on, what about you, Louis? Well I liked it...
