Er, hi!
So, I've only just seen this thread. Let me tell you, there are few odder ways to spend ten minutes than reading dozens of variations on titles including your name. My surname's now done that thing where it sounds totally unreal and ridiculous to me. God knows how it must sound to you. But, thank you! Firstly, because loads of these suggestions are great, and are going on my list; and secondly- but just as importantly- for not totally ripping the piss out of me. Which is very much what I was expecting when I saw this thread was ten pages long: a stream of submissions on the lines of 'Finnemore's Talentless Embarrassment', 'Shoot Me In The Head, I'm Finnemore', or simply 'Finnetwat'. I am deeply grateful to you for largely not doing that. Yet.
Anyway, I have to decide this by next Friday. And even if I don't end up using one you've suggested, I'll pick my favourite to win whatever the prize is. For your guidance, my biggest concern is it sounding smug, which practically everything does if you put your name in it. I'd rather it sounded dull than smug. But if it could be not dull and not smug, that would of course be brilliant. Secondly, it has to pass the continuity announcer test, which is that it can fit into the sentence 'In a moment, it's time for...' without sounding too weird, or making me embarrassed I've made the announcer say it. My favourite titles-with-a-name-in: 'Hancock's Half Hour'. 'Harry Hill's Fruit Corner'.
My least favourite title-with-a-name-in: 'Improvisation, My Dear Mark Watson'.
My working title, which I can imagine ending up with, because at least it does the job: John Finnemore's Sketch Show.
Other possibles I'm considering: But John Finnemore. John Finnemore's Penguin Edition. John Finnemore's All-Night Carvery. John Finnemore's Rocket Salad.
Suggestions of yours I particularly like: Finnemore's Wake. John Finnemore's Ice-Cream Sunday. Finnemore's 28 Minutes and Thirty Seconds. The Finnemore Project. Finnemore's Prerogative. HMS Finnemore. Finnemore's Almanac. Finnemore's Radio Sketch Show.
I really like Hit and Miss as well, but my God it's a hostage to fortune... Having said that, generally I like self-depricating ones.
Anyway, thanks again, I really appreciate it. And as well as suggestions, opinions on which of the above you like are very welcome.
