It's not overrated if people find it funny. If I had the choice of Father Ted or Jam & Jerusalem I'd pick Ted every time. I can watch it over and over again and still laugh whereas things like Fools & Horses and Fawlty Towers I can take or leave although I loved them when I first saw them.
Why on earth would you ever be in a position where you would have to pick from Father Ted or Jam & Jerusalem?! Are you playing one of those Andy Millman/Maggie "Would you rather.." games? If so, you’ve kinda misunderstood the concept.
