Bob Dylan - Happy 70th Page 3

Since we're all, allegedly, writers here, you might like to take a look at this http://www.dylandays.com/index.htm They run this comp every year.

I read his book, 'Chronicles Vol 1', a couple of years back; was a good read. Jumped around different bits of his life at random. Where's Vol 2?!

Nice Stella Street type story about Dylan which is retold in the Daily Mirror today-

"Dylan landed at Heathrow airport without an entourage and handed a cabbie the address of former Eurythmics star Stewart's recording base.
But there was a mix-up and Dylan arrived at the door of a terraced house nearby. He rang the bell, waited for the door to swing open and asked for Dave.
When the plumber called Dave who lived there returned home, his astonished wife told him: "Bob Dylan's here to see you - he's sitting in the front room having a cup of tea."

Wasn't Christopher Plumber, was it?

Or like being a Morrissey fan and leading The Conservative party.

Morrisey's been pretty right wing...

Mr Dylan must have had a good birthday judging by his only UK performance at Finsbury Park on Saturday.
One of the best Dylan concerts I've ever been to.
Fantastic band, he was on great voice, singing and phrasing like he really meant it and enjoying it. He went through old favourites from Highway 61, Freewheeling and Blood on the Tracks, all given a polished make-over in variety of styles. Bob rocked.

Nashville Skyline is great. I started to write some lyrics to one of the instrumental tracks once and forgot to finish it. Something about the circle line I think.

Woody Guthrie was obviously very influenced by him ;)

Bob looks a bit like Mikey Jackson on the front cover of Nasville Skyline.

It's a jaunty style. Even if he didn't actually write Blowing in the Wind, it turns out.

Or did he? Maybe he did.

Looks like he did.

Still a jaunty look. :)

Would really have liked to have been there for the Feis, but I was another one pressganged into attending a wedding. (The wedding was actually pretty good, but even so...)

Although no expert on up and coming young Irish artists, the line-up for the festival as a whole could of done with some younger blood. That's not to say the likes of Christie Moore don't still put on a fantastic show, while Shane McGowan is at least now more sober on stage than Amy Whitehouse.
