Terrible final films wonderful final films Page 3

Magnolia was a great end to Jason Robards career. And although not as good as Westworld, Futureworld wasn't a bad last film for Yul Bryner.

1 Peter Sellers died making that awful last Pink Panther Film which was completed with out him.

You are making that up. Sellers did not die making Trail of the Pink Panther. His final film was The Fiendish Plot of Dr Fu Manchu. He had wanted to make another Panther, which he had co-written, called Romance of the Pink Panther. After he died, United Artists decided to make the film with Dudley Moore as the new star, but then Blake Edwards convinced the studio that he could make a new and better film: Trail, which comprised deleted Sellers scenes from previous Panthers (mixed with new footage of the rest of the cast). In terms of rubbish final films, Trail and Curse of the Pink Panther were among the last featuring David Niven, who suffered the indignity of having his weakening voice dubbed.

So he made the film after he died.

Truly his last film.

Sootyj wins.

Sootyj always wins.

Plan 9 From Outer Space was a sad end to Bela Lugosi's career. Yet ironically inspired the awesome Ed Wood.

Bela Lugosi died before filming of Plan 9 started. It's old footage of him used in the film.

Hence the cover of my copy says "Almost starring Bela Lugosi"

It's still officially his final film.

Being There is sometimes cited as Sellars' swan song which would be nice if it was true.

A dying John Wayne made a terrific last film in the form of the Shootist, concerning a legendary gunslinger looking for peace in his final lonely days. Very moving without ever resorting to any mawkish sentimentality.

Curious about Charles Hawtrey's last film called Zeta One in which; "A race of topless, large-breasted women from the planet Angvia (!), in another dimension, come to earth to kidnap women to repopulate their planet."

First I've heard of it being cited as such, godverdomme!

Definitely one to look out for as it also stars the wonderful James Robertson Justice (his swansong too).

The Shootist was probably Wayne's best performance shame he had to be dying before he had a decent performance.

The Shootist was probably Wayne's best performance shame he had to be dying before he had a decent performance.

A bit unfair, Soots. There were a lot of decent performances in his career, and more than a few great films. Including Stagecoach, True Grit, The Searchers and Red River. He didn't have a huge range, but what he did, he did well.

His greatest crime was being a staunch right-winger in an industry stuffed with liberals.

Not forgetting Brannigan in which he teaches us pussy fag limeys a thing or two about real policing.

And to make a BCG connection to Wayne it also features an early appearance from Tony Robinson.
