Lee Mack's All Star Cast Page 2

Superficial similarities to The Graham Norton Show, that I don't think really hold up any more than any other vaguely-topical weekly show featuring celebrities.

They could do with dropping (or re-working, but I'm not sure exactly how) the webcam section. And whose idea was it to book Stewart Francis for that slot? He didn't even get a chance to get going: really doesn't reflect well on his formidable talents.

I was very apprehensive about the audience participation element of the show, but it worked pretty well. Not faultless, but far better than other shows manage.

I'd like to see it get another 10 minutes on the run-time, combined with a cut down on that webcam stuff, to give Lee more of an interview with the guests, and/or another sketch.

After about the first 20 minutes, my face was aching from grinning with amusement; don't remember the last time that happened, so a big thumbs up from me.

A good format, not without some faults, but very enjoyable all-round. The BBC really need to forge themselves a new Morecambe & Wise Show - was this it? No, not in this form. But they're getting closer. I'll definitely be watching again.

If you look during the sketch section there was actually a Morecombe and Wise poster on the back of the flat door. Full marks to me for observation!

Generally I enjoyed it and found it entertaining. It needs some tweeks but most things do following the 1st episode. Agreed that Lee carried the format. I'll give it another go next week

It'll be interesting to see what they do with that segment - that was probably the biggest problem I had as it seemed to interrupt the flow. They have Milton Jones on next week so could suffer similar problems.

But a few points off for spelling. ;)

(I actually tweeted that observation, and the very moment I send the tweet out, the poster came into shot. Spooky timing. What a great homage though. Really nice to see a little tribute to the greats, that that sketch was clearly taking more than a hint of inspiration from.)

Shame on me! I used to live just outside Morecambe aswell!

Yes, I thought it was a nice touch. I almost wanted Tim Vine there for Lee to bounce off during that sketch.

I don't think so - whilst on the face of it Milton and Stewart are similar, their delivery and style is actually very different. Milton's gags are far quicker, whilst Stewart's are often slightly more obscure and need a little longer to settle, mature and fall into place in the mind. Next week we'll still be saying Milton should be on longer, but because we want more, not because it was too quick for his performing style.

Speaking of the poster, does anyone know where I could buy a copy?

It was the same photo as used for the cover of the book Morecambe & Wise: You can't see the join, but it looked to be in B&W.

Well, I really enjoyed it. Looking forward to the next one.

Bit clunky I thought but did enjoy it. Agree that Francis bit was way too short and have never seen a stand-up just filmed from a headshot and nothing else. That felt a bit freaky.

Will watch again but mainly cos it's Lee Mack. If it was anyone else, I wouldn't worry if an episode or three passed me by, unnoticed.

I thought episode 1 of 'Lee Mack's All Star Cast' was brilliant. This show is similar to other chat shows but then it's also got its own edge to it. The idea of getting the audience involved (even if just for a one line part in a sketch) is great and bringing something new to our screens.

Lee couldn't have done any better himself. He toned it down enough from his regular acts (that may not be appropriate) so that it could be a family show, but he kept enough to keep the grown-ups laughing.

The set and opening titles are incredibly well suited. It doesn't look cheap and has a real show-biz Saturday night show feel to it.

The show itself is quick moving, which is brilliant because it gives you a bit of that feature and then leaves you wanting it to last longer (instead of getting bored and going to put the kettle on) and it packs a lot of stuff into just 40 minutes. 40 minutes is also well planned, an hour is too long but half an hour isn't enough.

Of course we all love Lee for his stand-up and 'Not Going Out' so there are going to be people who don't like seeing him as a chat show host but, to be completely honest, I think he did really well as this show's host! I believe that last night Lee Mack showed us the variety of what he is easily able to do and proved that there is nothing he can't take on.

Fantastic show and will definitely be watching the rest of the series. Also, just seen lots of positive feedback on some @LeeMackfirst fan's Twitter page. If it impressed the people of Twitter, it must be a good show.

I mostly liked it.

The audience lookalike bit was shit, a bunch of unfunny deluded people who think they look like celebrities, Sonia from EastEnders? More like Heather and Anne Robinson? Thought she looked more like Leslie Ash in 30 years.

The sketch bit was funny, even James Blunt, though I wish he hadn't sung at the end of the show the effin James Blunt.

I thought the Sonia lookalike was pretty good!

It's like they don't have to confidence just to stick Lee Mack on with people to interview, something I think he could do easily.

But we don't actually need another bloody interview chat show. He certainly could've interacted with the guests a bit more, but it'd be a mistake to turn it into a new Jonathan Ross type thing.
