Sitcom Trials Manchester 2011 - scripts invited Page 8

Quote: Mikey Jackson @ June 13 2011, 8:21 PM BST

On the first page of this thread, it says the deadline for entries June 19th, yet on page 3 it says June 21st.

Can I assume that it's now June 21st?

The deadline is actually June 19th. But because I made a slip up listing the wrong date in a couple of places, and because we're hardly deluged by scripts, any scripts that come in by June 21st will still get read and considered. Keep em coming.

Kev: So I take it the Sitcom Trials team will be doing the selecting rather than the contestants and their twitter followers?

Also, you mentioned that the number of entries chosen would depend on how many scripts the Team itself had written or discovered--any idea of how many scripts the Team have come up with and how many slots that leaves to fill?

Oi, you can't change it now, that's cheating...

Besides, I've set up several hundred Twitter accounts just for this competition, it'd be a shame to waste them...

Cheating--it's so subjective, innit?

Good questions, I'm still waiting for Lisa to tell me. (That's Lisa Davies, producing this show). I've been saying all along they'll perform a minimum of two scripts from the online submissions, they may well do more. I think it really depends on the quality of entries and what they make of them.

I agree, a bit of online reading, reviewing and voting would be fun, and it was what I promised. So, I guess, that could start any day now. I'll tell you how, where and when...

Are you calling me a subjective..?

Is there an alternative to uploading to the Yahoo Group?

I've set up a new Yahoo account - can't get past the "confirm your membership and activate Web Access"

I've linked my Facebook - can't get past the "confirm your membership and activate Web Access"

I've also tried linking my Gmail - can't get past the "confirm your membership and activate Web Access"

So basically, I can't upload because I can't get in. And the Yahoo help makes no sense.

And I've cleared my cookies and tried a different browser. And the Yahoo help doesn't help. :(

You could send it to me and I'll make sure it gets posted... Cool

I've just amended the settings for the egroup so that you now shouldn't have to wait for my approval. Now anyone can join, hopefully, and upload their script instantly. There are now 23 scripts up there, that's very nearly 1 per cent of the number of entries to The Sitcom Mission. So, er, game on.

On the previous page you said you'd already read his and that it was a lot better than yours!?!

Chris: if you still feel like entering I'm sure Kev will post the script up for you. I think he's done it for one of the other contestants. But you were right and it seems that the competition is now a matter of who can get the most youtwits to vote.

It's not you know. We will be reading, reviewing and voting on scripts (stay tuned), but if there were to be any obvious attempt to ballot-stuff or sway the result (which, with only 23 entries, would be pretty easy to spot) then the decision of myself and the team producing and performing the Manchester Sitcom Trials will be final. But I really want to get the views of the online community, so keep looking here to learn how.

I think the online voting and reviewing will work. I don't think the votes will really determine the winner.

In the sitcom mission everyone wanted feedback about their scripts and with this system that is now possible. Most of the scripts entered won't win but by being reviewed and hopefully with some constructive criticism those writers can learn and benefit from the experience and become better writers. I'm sure everyone knows how hard it is to get people to read you're script let alone give an honest opinion so make the most of this.

Having said that if anyone writes anything slightly negative about mine I will hunt you down!

Well I could hardly say it was shit, could I..? I don't even know the bloke...

This voting lark's all a fiddle anyway, the one legged, lesbian goat juggler from Azerbaijan wins. (it's her that's the lesbian, not the goat, never was very good with, commas)...

I know, it's pathetic, if you have a hundred friends voting for you......you win ok?.......tongue in cheek, just joking Kev

I'm get confused now..!

Is it youtwits on Twitter doing the voting or youtwits on here..?
