She used all sorts of images and looks over the years, yeah she didn't shy away from using her feminine charms, but she had a lot more going for her than that, she's done some great songs , Holiday, Lucky Star, La Isla Bonita...I veer towards her early 80s stuff...and she has always set a pretty good example to follow, hard working,disciplined, non druggie or heavy drinker.

SO agree very clever woman, such brilliant music and still fit and popular, not that many 80's guys in band can top that.

The only time I've ever fancied Madonna is when I first saw the Vogue video. Loved that hairstyle.

Why do people always call her "clever", simply because she jumps on whatever bandwagon is big, whenever she decides to record an album or make a video? She makes me cringe. I suppose, for her next single, she'll be singing over f**king Dubstep, seeing as that's the big thing at the moment.

David Bowie has always done that too.

If it was as simple as that every Tom, Dick and Harry would have music careers spanning 30+ years. As it is, they don't. You might not like Madonna (I'm not a huge fan) but she's not without talent.

By the way, speaking of Madonna jumping on bandwagons, does anyone remember her asking Italian golden boy Roberto Baggio on a date, during the '90 World Cup? She was on a world tour at the time, and landed in Italy in the middle of the tournament. She was probably annoyed that the media were more interested in the national team than her, and thought she would get more attention by associating herself with their star player. Apparently he turned the offer down.
