'Entertaining the Nation' at the Camden based Jewish Museum has to cover a wide range of arts and entertainment and but has a very well represented comedy contingent. Many of the clips are biased towards present day Jewish comedians such as Sacha Baron Cohen and David Baddiel but it was good to see Sid James as the face of the exhibition. I understand Maureen Lipman had a helping hand with the exhibition so no lack of exhibits on Jack Rosenthal either.
I would like to have seen more information on some much underrated comic performers like the recently deceased Miriam Karlin, Fenella Fielding and (as always) Marty Feldman. I might have missed him but didn't see anything on Bob Monkhouse.
On the music industry side there was a lot of prominence to famous names such as Brian Epstein, Mark Bolan and the legendary Peter Green, but you needed an electron microscope to find anything on Simon Cowell. For that alone this exhibition deserves a visit.
