Android App Thread

There is an Apple app thread......

I've just got my new Android phone. It is my first smartphone.

Can you recommend a few (free) apps I should be downloading over the first few days?

I'd quite like a few puzzle/quiz games......but also other useful stuff.

Ta. Wave

I've also ventured into my first smartphone - HTC Wildfire S. Not got any apps yet but will watch this thread.

I've got a guitar tuner app, it's brilliant. Of course, not much use unless you want to tune your guitar.
They should invent a bottle-opener app.

Angry Birds is a fun game. And free!

You'll probably want some sort of 'note' app for writing notes in. There's several out there.

You'll definitely want a footy scores app as well.

I also find the Ultrachron Lite stopwatch app good, but it depends if you're going to use a stopwatch all that often.

That's about all I use.

Snap!

I've just changed but got the older Wildfire.

50 mins

250 texts

500mb internet

£12pm.

Should cover all my needs I hope.

It's spreading like... er...um...

Mr Branston. He makes good pickles as well ! :)

Try either the Dolphin Mini/HD browser or the Opera Mini browser. That is if your stock browser is a little low on features.

TuneIn Radio is a great digital radio app, if you like that sorta thing.

Is that an offer or a strange northern shop? Either way, luckily unfamiliar with it as it sounds like a little bit of a rip off!

50 minutes a month? You must be unusually terse for a northerner.

I've got the HTC Desire and my best advice is beware battery life is hopeless. Anyone know how to reduce the power settings?

Get rid of all those apps you don't need?
Get Apndroid to stop them connecting when you don't need them to?

The only App I've got is Angry Birds, but this Apndroid will reduce my power consumption?

I had a similar problem with my Samsung android phone. The battery used to last less than a day until I changed the settings to 'use only 2g networks' on the mobile network settings. Might be worth a try.
