If I can add to that, "In the Meantime" has a fantastic cast, led by a sublime lead performance from Perrier Newcomer nominated Stephen Harvey, and a brilliant director to boot. It's going to be stonking. Obviously I'm biased since I co-wrote the thing; to try and shore that up, here's a couple of comments about our previous shows:

<selfpromotion>

"Bloody funny, with shades of Mitchell & Webb as well as Spike Milligan" - The Stage

"A broad, contagious sense of fun sustained by a respect for the audience's intelligence." - The Times

"Endlessly inventive and brilliantly funny" - The Scotsman

</selfpromotion>

Incidentally, I've seen Scat Pack several times before, they are genuinely brilliant. It's going to be a fun, fun evening.

It started off well with varying degrees of success , started with excellent and brilliant Jay Foreman then ended utterly fabulous. The bit in the middle with the sitcoms doesn't get reviewed unless one draws the conclusion that might be hinted at. I guess he means that! :)

Yes, I meant what Mr P said. We used to get more of a how the sitcoms went down with the crowd and such. Thought there might be more of that.

But there wasn't. Maybe Ryan Giggs was one of the actors.

No wonder brand new writers don't stand a chance
;)

Ok, there was hardly any audience at the 5pm show, but the actors went out and did their stuff. It was a good opportunity to see the shows up on their feet, and to see if anything needs tweaking or working on.

The 7.30pm show was much better; it was well attended, although not a sell out, and both shows went down well to a friendly crowd.

Thanks. I'm glad there is no embargo in place :)

Last year's runaway winner Thunderer was written by an unknown writer and the previous year's winner From Riga To Rotherham was written by a first-time writer.

And, I believe, at least three of this year's finalists are first-time writers.

Ok, ok, gerroff me, I'm not a brand new writer! Having had two comedy plays on in London fringe, I was talking to Andyblacksheep.

And I noted the ;) and took it in that spirit!
