I think someone (Will Cam?) has already slated The Thick Of It for being unrealistic. Generally I'm more interested in believability than realism.
Films that are not bad enough to be good. Page 6
The Gulf war movie seems to be becoming a paradigm of it's own sort of like the Vietnam one used to be. Dust, kefiyah scarves and random ambushes.
Loads of stinkers, some never made it to the UK screen.
But some goodies Green Zone (oddly enough), 3 Kings (Gulf war1 I know( albeit the best program on the subject is easily Generation Kill (which was a TV show)
That's probably in my top 10 or 20 as well. Great Old Hollywood roisterer. No Robin Hood film can be truly accurate because there is no proof at all of Robin Hood existing. As to the variety of source material, I think it is pretty accurate in fact. The depiction of the Friar is a piece of great medieval satire.
When you tell a joke Tony do you use realism or the opposite to heighten your point and elicit a response?

Is that the one where they're swinging from the trees on jungle vines?

No. There isn't a rainforest in Nottingham. But a bit of swinging in trees. As one did back then.

Just lots of Burberry apes.
The only speeding ticket I ever had came from The Sheriff of Nottingham. True!

Did he check your horse tax disc?
Lol. I wish I had kept the ticket though.
Quote: zooo @ June 6 2011, 9:33 PM BSTI'd prefer a film with all the actors speaking in their own accents (up to a point). I don't care if the characters would have been speaking Italian, or if they all would have had Scottish accents.
I can't remember what it was but I saw something where they had people supposedly speaking in various different languages and the way they handled it was to have everyone speaking English but using the accent of the language they were supposed to be speaking in - i.e. the Germans spoke English with a German accent, the French spoke English with a French accent and when they were speaking to each other their accent changed depending on who was talking in a different language.
It worked surprisingly well.
And no, it wasn't 'Allo 'Allo.

No, there isn't a rainforest, that's one of the inaccuracies I thought you were alluding to. In the scenes where they swing from trees they're on the same thick vines that you'd expect to see in a Tarzan film.

Anything written by or starring a member of the Wayans family is usually atrocious.

Good point. And Tarzan films were good too!

Tarzan is surely due a reboot.
