Shhhh!
Psychoville - Series 2 Page 19
As noted I'm unabashedly in love with this show and I think Sooty hits the nail on the head when he says it's like a Hammer House film.
I reckon it's a cut above various other sitcoms (which are usually just half hearted concepts based on formulas to create products that hopefully 'sell') in that Psychoville exists in its own distinct universe - old school Hammer influence for sure, but applied affectionately and not spoofily. It's so bold and artistic and darkly beautiful I think - even people who don't enjoy it can't say it's bad, rather it's not their cup of tea.
Fingers crossed for Season 3.

I felt Psychoville and League of Gentlemen's influences are even more specific and it is nodding its hat to early 70s Hammer, Amicus and Tygon films when things when they were desperately trying out more leftfield ideas to revitalise the dying British horror boom. Films like Vampire Circus and Horror Hospital have a barmy strangeness about them
Apart from another series, I'd love to see some of the Psychoville/League of Gentlemen characters on their own mainstream chatshow, interviewing celebrities, I can see them now, lining up to be interviewed by Mr. Jelly.
You're (nearly) all wrong. That was awesome. I still can't decide if I liked it better than the first series. I nearly cheered when David clopped Finney with a 2x4.
But still - boo @ Tealeaf being dead.
Quote: bigfella @ June 6 2011, 10:36 PM BSTEnjoyed that.
Plenty of opportunities for series 3.
Quote: Ben @ June 6 2011, 10:38 PM BSTYou think? I thought it was case closed.
I don't think it is quite case closed. After all, you still have Maureen in a bath full of ice. Also, we don't know if Jeremy has been released by the police yet. Plus you've now got the little romance between David and Emily.
Personally, I liked the final episode. I was especially fond of the funeral scene.
The telekinetic dwarf conveniently popping up at the end was a bit lazy.
What would you have prefered to see?

I may have missed something (I am human!) but how did she find out who was responsible for her boyfriend's death? And how did she track them down? The storytelling was a tad slack.
I enjoyed it. Liked Mr Jolly "I have no fingers... rude" comment.

How often do you see that?

Ha, yes I liked that bit. I think Mr. Jelly's my favourite. Just like Geoff was in League. I'd say they have a few things in common.

I meant in terms of storytelling. As I explained in my follow up post. Do you get it now? Or shall I go through it again more slowly so you can follow?
