I never knew you were capable of such passion, Cowards!

I do a lot of work with military personnel and the way they are portrayed in most films, TV shows, books etc is so unrepresentative that it makes my blood boil.

"Gary Tank Commander" is, genuinely, a more accurate portrayal of army life than crap like "The Hurt Locker" and that doesn't claim to be "realistic".

I met Ross Kemp once and he held his wrist behind his back.

"he just rocks up near a device and puts on a bomb suit. There's none of the usual military procedure: no planned operation, no isolation, no robots."

Drama is life with the dull bits cut out. - Alfred Hitchcock

A good film maker doesn't have to show all these things to make us, the layman viewer, aware of them.

The Oscars, Bafta and Golden Globe ALL conspire against Avatar man.

Did you give him your lunch money?

Is that a description of yourself "Hulk Dan"?

Ah it was a mess, but a glorious, complex, nutty mess.

Really? I thought they did.

I appreciate that I'm sounding sarcastic, but as a layman on any subject if I'm not shown something by the film maker then I'm not likely to be aware of them.

Well I say I met him, I was in the same room once last summer, but didn't talk to him or Katie Price who was there with her cage boxer friend.

What both of them?

My word that must have been some room!

As a viewer I'm interested in believability rather than realism. I have no idea whether The Hurt Locker was realistic or not, but for me at least it was believable.

It was a big room with mini hamburgers as I recall. :)

Was it a launch party for some new lines at Iceland?

Lol. Just obviously a gathering of literary heavyweights!
