Can Women Write? Page 4

The Guardian has the obit of the main writer for I love Lucy (I forget her name as I am an idiot) who is a woman, with tits and everything.

I think the comedy writing world has been dominated by men in the past. It is difficult to think of female comedy writers from the 60s and earlier.

In the past most professions were dominated by men, but Aphra Behn, possibly Englands' first female professional writer, included comedies in her output.

Interestingly to me women seem very well represented in scifi, though less based in the hard sciences.

Anne Kress may be about the best scifi writer on genetics around.

I think the comedy writing world has been dominated by men in the past. It is difficult to think of female comedy writers from the 60s and earlier. There was Molly Millest, who submitted gags for Round the Horne etc, but that's more or less it.

Men dominated everything in the past. In the 50s/60s a woman's place was to be a good wifey and woe betide her if she didn't have his dinner/newspaper/slippers ready for him when he returned from work.[she didn't even read the newspaper before him!]
In the workplace it was tough too, if a woman spouted her mouth off, she was menopausal, if a man did similar, he was all powerful/strong and good top management material.
...I'm just saying :D

I imagine you spouted your mouth of a little in the past BB! ;)

I thought Lucille Ball both starred and co write the series.

Madelyn Pugh Davis, not uncommon for the star to do the gags and a "writer" to do structure plots, long jokes etc. In this case both were ladies.

Men dominated everything in the past. In the days before we lived in big cities a woman's place was to be a good wifey and woe betide her if she didn't have his cave cleaned/crude paintings on the walls/sabre tooth tiger skin ready for him when he returned from hunting mammoths.[she didn't even read the cave paintings before him!]
In the hunt it was tough too, if a woman spouted her mouth off, she was a witch, if a man did similar, he was all powerful/strong and good tribal chief material.
...I'm just saying :D

How old are you Bush?
