Can Women Write? Page 3
Quote: sootyj @ June 2 2011, 8:28 PM BSTJK Rowling is significantly better than the others.
Yeah, but in the real world.
Quote: KLRiley @ June 2 2011, 8:38 PM BSTRemember that toughest BCG female thread? I'm sure one of them will be along in a minute.
Who won that by the way? how do I look at that old thread?...
Will indeed be back regarding terrible overlooking of marvellous Beryl Bainbridge, regarding Booker Prize, a complete 'retro' lack of acknowledgement of her writing power!
Dellas, I said for starters. If you've got more add them!
Timbo, totally right. No one would mess with Austen. The foul mouthed hussy.
Quote: Marc P @ June 2 2011, 9:59 AM BSTIt seems that not only can women not be funny. They can't write either!

Why marc have you ventured this question? is it because a woman has sold more books than you in Australia?

That should belong on a thread entitled comedy films which are far better than the original book.
It is one of the most difficult books (through its Evening Standard column) I have ever read. I would get about two paragraphs in, the words would drop off the page, miss my stop in East Croydon and wake up in Haywards Heath.

Nah, it's actually quite a funny book, written by someone who understands The Funny.
I think the comedy writing world has been dominated by men in the past. It is difficult to think of female comedy writers from the 60s and earlier. There was Molly Millest, who submitted gags for Round the Horne etc, but that's more or less it.

Think harder then and visit a library!
