Does anyone out there remember the ITV sitcom Joan And Leslie (starring Joan and Leslie Randall - husband and wife) which was broadcast around 1956? It had a very 'catchy' theme tune which often made it onto the Light Programme's breakfast music show in the days before they started playing records. This sitcom is not even listed on this website!

Tell us about it! Fawlty was only listed last week!
What was the show about?
It is listed on the site - but presently only under its original name, Leslie Randall Entertains. It changed to Joan And Leslie on its 15th episode (of 19 (in the first series)).
Ha! How could they ever doubt you, Aaron?
Never heard of either of them. Are they Yanks?
Leslie, no. Not sure about Joan.
Here's Leslie Randall in My Family last year.

Hi all,
I wanted to thank everyone for their interest in Joan and Leslie and say that Joan was definitely English, and a Londoner. I should know, she is my Mum!
There is also a clip of them doing a Fairy Snow commercial on you tube - see http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qIKEvxXgdbU
The reason that people tend to forget them despite playing to audiences of 7 million viewers in 1955-1958, is that the Joan and Leslie shows were broadcast live and never recorded. This is a great loss because everyone remembers I Love Lucy, but as Bernard Levin wrote at the time, Joan and Leslie showed I Love Lucy 'a clean pair of heels'.
Wow, hello there David. Certainly a great shame nothing was ever recorded. It'd be really interesting if someone bought the script rights and produced the series afresh, I think! (Same for many other similar shows of the period, too.)
