Coffee

A MAN INSIDE A GIANT PLASTIC BUBBLE ROLLS INTO STARBUCKS.
HE WAITS IN LINE TO BE SERVED, GETS TO THE TILL AND PULLS OPEN A SMALL ZIP AT THE FRONT OF THE BUBBLE.

ASSISTANT
What can I get you Sir?

MAN
I'll have an organic double chocolate brownie frappuicino hot with foam half sweet whipped cream upside down to go please

ASSISTANT GETS THE ORDER AND ATTEMPTS TO PASS IT TO THE MAN BUT IT WON'T FIT THROUGH THE ZIP

THE MAN STICKS A HAND OUT AND TRIES TO PUT THE CUP TO HIS LIPS BUT THE HOT LIQUID SPILLS EVERYWHERE

MAN
Actually, better make that a skinny organic chocolate....

END

Bizarre but it works, maybe if we saw the skinny coffee?

Pretty much what I was going to say. Touch of inspired lunacy Shandonbelle.

I think having such a weird set up followed by a knowingly mundane punchline, is a sort of antijoke.

Which works.

Don't get enough of those these days

Thanks guys, I've had that man in the bubble in my head for a while, but had him in different settings. I had another ending where he says forget the coffee and then grabs some of those free coffee biscuits and posts them through his zip.

You need to place him in a real albeit bizarre context rather than your head. Coffee shop at a hospital for example or like Sootyj flashing on hampstead heath. Big balls.

Mark I have the number of a therapist who maybe able to help.

I am not surprised you do! ;)

I liked it. I liked the arse about face way in which you wrote it... It made me think of a man getting into one of those zorbing balls at the top of a steep field, rolling down and hitting a thistle on the way down puncturing the ball. The end being a smaller deflated zorb ball at the bottom of the field and a midget stepping out of it. Thanks for giving me some inspiration.

Like it, wish I had thought of that :)

It's not funny. I can picture it and I would just think it's stupid if I saw it.

Maybe my brain is too lateral.

Hmmmm. I can see what you're getting at but I'm not sure it will work in such a bizarre setting.

Oddly similar to something that happened this morning though. A colleague asked me to get her a 'large skinny latte' as I was going to the coffee bar at work.

My reply, "Well which is it - large or skinny?" was just met with blank stares so maybe this gag is a bit too obscure for mere mortals.

It has a lovely feel to it. It makes you just accept this bizarre situation. Lovely idea. I also like Nigel Kellys take on it.

The whole point of it is that it IS bizarre though

I might play around with the wording a bit more, thanks :)

Thanks Otterfox :)

I like the bubble man, but I'm not sure about the logic of him spilling a highly caloric drink all over his suit, and then ordering a skinny drink.

If he'd asked for a straw, or a cold drink it might have made more sense to me.
Would like to see more of his adventures though,
