You're a twat.

Paul Rodgers was a massive star before Freddie.

And? So were Daltrey and Robert Plant. That wasn't my point.

They never sang with Queen though.

Yes they did...

Watching the tribute (to Freddie) show clips reminded me of one thing. How none of the stand-ins weren't a patch on Freddie. A unique voice.

Keep up you old chuffer. :P

They were just one-offs though whereas Paul toured with them.

Ok dear, go back to bed. Rolling eyes

I'm with Chappers on this.

OK doing one offs, tribute concerts etc but picking up the mantle and going on stage to do such classics takes some doing.

And, you know what? When I saw the DVD of Paul Rogers with Queen, big fan of Freddie's as I am, I didn't miss him one jot.

Why? Because one has to accept that that it is not 'Queen'. It is the surviving members plus one of the great vocalists/front men of a generation! Putting their own take on Queen material with the added bonus of Rogers' back catalogue. The others didn't do that. Not a 90 minutes+ concert.

And don't get me started on George (see you in the bushes) Michael.

My dad had A Night at the Opera which I'd listen to and a bit later I got Greatest Hits and The Works and I liked a lot of the stuff on these albums. So I thought the band could be pretty good, when everything worked. Then I went to see them on The Works tour in 1984. It was only the second concert I'd ever been to and the only thing that has ever come close since was Queen in 1986. I've seen the Stones, Paul McCartney, Bowie, Simple Minds, Genesis, Prince, Michael Jackson, U2 and a whole host of others. As far as I'm concerned, Queen were the best live act on the planet. By a country mile.

Better even than Steps??

pffft

whatever dude...

The best live act I've seen was Rory Gallagher but unfortunately that can never happen again.

Rage Against The Machine

incredible live

in-fookin-credible

Watched the documentary earlier today. Great stuff. I've got the Greatest Hits in the car and love listening to it, and singing along on long journey. I've often embarresed myself at traffic lights, belting out a classic with the windows down.

'Love of my life' is one of my favourite songs ever.

HMV had recently reduced all the new remastered versions of their albums to about £4 each. Didn't want to commit at the time but went in today - and guess what!

I might have to treat myself to some of the more obscure albums if they're only £4!

I'm guessing Freddie is the second most famous Indian singer after Sir Cliff Richard?
