I'm supprised I've never even heard of it to be honest, it looks like it was a big literary and cultural work. And quite funny.

P.s. Aaron - you're an oblomov. ;)

Here in Stuttgart there's even a café/bar thing called Oblomow.

Aaron's not an Oblomov. I'm pretty close to being one, but hope I can avoid it (knowing the ending of the book). Read it!

Cute avatar, btw. You're doing it for the girls, aren't you?

Nah, just too lazy to make my own - I found these by doing a search for "100*100 avatars".

It's not easy with the cyrillic alphabet. But once you get around that it's a fun language.

Oh no, I've got Cyrillic down. That's easy. (Although only really in print form at the moment, not cursive.) I can read and speak what I see. Just not necessarily always understand it, and couldn't put a sentence together myself.

I've never read that, but now I have a new word to abuse Aaron with.

Cool! :D

I'm trying to better my French right now. Just got another new CD. :)

I have just watched episode 2, and it's equally as funny as the first. Thank you to Finck for making this possible. Much love! :)

And episode 3 is also brilliant. Not quite as funny as the preceeding two, but well written, a good watch, and something to think about. Lena's great. :)

I'm glad you liked it, Aaron (and finally got round to watching it...).

Translating it was so much fun and quite a different watching experience.

I'm afraid it goes a bit downhill, though, from episode 3 onwards, which is a real pity.

Oh boo hiss. :(

Well ... It's still very good, had me captivated throughout!

Hm.. Any of my BCG chums out there still got copies of those Turkish for Beginners eps I subtitled? I've lost them. :(

Sorry for the double post, but probably more valid here.

Looks like Aaron might have it then, from reading the thread. He's out but will be back tomorrow, if no one else has it.

Yeah, can't really see Aaron throwing anything away. And he liked this.

*crosses fingers*

Hello Finck, welcome back! I loved 'Turkish For Beginners'. Is it still going? Did it, in your opinion, continue downhill or did it rise again?

I do indeed have copies. Episodes 2 and 3.

I think I may have posted this somewhere else, but this website has subtitled episodes for season 1.

And, the parts that are missing for eps 4 and 5 can be found here:

Hey Anorak!

I haven't watched it in ages. Planning on revisiting it, maybe get the box set. IIRC the first series was definitely the best. It all went a bit more comedy drama afterwards.

Maybe if I get fired, I'll spend a month subbing the rest. :)

Oh, I'm glad. But where's ep 1? :O

Those were already available back when I did the first three eps. I decided to sub them myself because the translations in these were so poor.

But thanks for posting, I shall have a look again.
