What are you watching on TV? Page 1,442
Quote: sootyj @ May 22 2011, 5:51 PM BSTYou'd be surprised how many people find out those aren't choices they're chances.
Plenty of people pull themselves out of the 'hood and lead "normal" lives. It's a choice.
Louis just shows things as they are.
If anything, he seems to chicken out of expressing his own opinions about the issues he's covering.
Did anybody see the American wrestler guy putting him through a work out? Jesus, I thought he might die
You do realise Dangeorus Minds wasn't a documentary?
Quote: DaButt @ May 22 2011, 5:52 PM BSTI was going by some of his published moanings about the conditions. I suspect the man thinks these guys are victims of the system and can somehow be "fixed."
I suggest you watch it before leaping to judgement.

A touchy-feely quote from The Sun:
As I've seen in Miami, jail has a habit of breeding criminals.
If there's a way we can keep tabs on people who commit less serious crimes, then I think that's probably a good thing. It saves money and it should be more humane. I tend to think these guys are not benefiting from being institutionalised.
I met one man who was accused of robbery and was looking at maybe a couple of years behind bars.
But while he was in jail, he allegedly stabbed another inmate 18 times.
That then meant he was looking at an attempted murder charge.Jail educates people in the ways of certain jailhouse codes.
It can indoctrinate the younger inmates into a certain way of life.
Anything that can be done to avoid that must be a good thing.

No but I pissed myself when he returned to the Westborough Baptist Church and they showed him antisemitic films, because they thought he was Jewish.

He doesn't tend to preach in his shows, he usually gives the people space to say what they want; generally hanging themselves in the process! It's a soft approach that basically draws out more truth.
i thought he was jewish?

Some of that, for some offenders, is obviously true though. Touchy feely isn't always wrong.
DaButt he's just quoting what's generally an accpeted orthodoxy in the penal system.
Prison provides a temporary reprieve from criminals at massive cost.
I'd rather see my taxes go else where.

Of course. But these aren't first offenders, they're violent gang members with extensive criminal histories.

Same here, but what do we do with such violent predators?

Not at all. Cool as a cucumber. (I hate cucumbers unless they're in pickle form.)
They are nice with salad cream.
(Cucumbers, not prisoners.)
