hah! I noticed that too!
Hardly surprising.
Her set seemed to be basically along the lines of 'im a scumbag and a criminal -that's funny isnt it???'
Hilarious love
You certainly need locking up anyway.

True
but I'd listen to anything with Jeremy Hardy on
Great to have Danny Baker back on Five Live this morning.
On good form too.
Yes, I heard him too and he sounded very well.
No saliva glands!
Gone!
Has anyone else seen the BBC Radio 4 Extra ad featuring the Just a Minute team? I thought it was rather interesting, in the sense that the ad starred both Gyles Brandreth and Marcus Brigstocke and nobody got seriously injured. They must have edited those bits out.
I always love it when Brandreth is on - the man is hilarious
hate his politics (and his jumpers) but credit where it's due
much funnier than Tim Rice and Liza Tarbuck and Kit Harvey and many others I wish they wouldn't bother with
Enjoyed the Tommy Cockles edition of The Simon Day Show this week. He proved more entertaining that I thought he would. It was good to hear Paul Whitehouse helping out as well.
I'm not sure if the audience members are needed as characters. I'd rather hear more of the main character on stage and the backroom shenanigans.
Anyone else listen to "HQ" with Roy Hudd and David Quantick on Radio 2 last night?
Can't work out if I was just in a bad mood or if it was really quite unfunny?
All the sketches seemed to take a reasonably funny idea and then flog them to death when they should've been more like Barry McGuigan, short and punchy.
Quote: Griff @ May 20 2011, 8:00 PM BSTSandi Toksvig did the 'why the long face' joke about a horse walking into a bar. I don't know why Radio Four consider their Friday night offerings to be their flagship shows specially selected for podcasting, because judging by tonight's tosh the News Quiz is totally outclassed by everything else in the schedule.
In fairness she did it ironically, but agree about the cuttings. The News Quiz has never really recovered from the deaths of Alan Coren and Linda Smith. I still listen if Jeremy Hardy or Andy Hamilton are on, for the odd moment of mirth, but it is very tired.
Armando Ianunnuci is always good value on it.
Quote: Griff @ May 22 2011, 11:34 AM BSTFrancis Wheen is good when they can get him, as he actually knows stuff as well as being witty.
I haven't heard him on it for ages. He was good.

Was it Shelia Hancock stuck in the background failing to say anything? And isn't it at least two difffernt teams? I thought Paul Merton was in it as well but occupying the same space as Brigstock.
I spotted Hancock in the advert as well. I was wondering why she never got to say anything.

I was an audience member for the recording of this advert and it was a bit of a shambles! They played quite a few rounds of the game (a number of which being on the subject of Radio 4 Extra) but most of the stuff that has ended up in the advert was some staged moments at the end, where all of the contestants were told just to buzz in quick succession, regardless of whether their challenge was valid. Earlier on, Sheila Hancock got the subject of Radio 4 Extra and launched into a rant about how it was a huge con as it was just a re-brand of BBC7! After someone on the production team had a word with her to be more upbeat, most of the things she praised about the station were actually things that (unbeknownst to her) had been cut during the transition from BBC 7 to 4 Extra, particularly the children's programming. I think the producers may have regretted booking her in the end!
