WTF?

Good god.

I need to jumpstart my brain.

That is so generous.

No way would the UK give out disability benefits for being a pervert.

What about food stamps for millionaires?

And all we've got are boring Romanian gypsies . . . .

A shoplifter flees into a group of Marines and unwisely stabs one of them. The shoplifter then suffers a painful "fall": http://blog.gnurl.net/clinchwood/2011/05/13/assailant-suffers-injuries-fall/

EDIT: Oops; true and false, according to Snopes: http://www.snopes.com/politics/military/stabbedmarine.asp

It's an odd case but a reasonable one.

He just reduced his income and savings to a sufficent level. Otherwise are you suggesting people sell their homes before they recieve support?

Ohh were all going to die soon

Still, weve had a good innings

:D and a groan

It's not at all reasonable. Someone with millions in investments and property should not be eligible for public assistance; it's a loophole that should be closed immediately. The man's sense of pride alone should be reason enough to stop his claims.

Should millionaire/extremely rich OAPs get a free bus pass?

No, but its cost benefit analysis. It probably would cost more to spend the time weeding out those who aren't entitled than the actual benefit distributed. The in laws mentioned that they got the winter fuel allowance and the Christmas bonus 'but we don't need it.' I asked them if they sent it back and was told 'oh no, we spent it.'

And if you lost your job tomorrow you should sell your house before the state even started to offer any help?

Do you know how expensive homelessness is for the government?

Food stamps despite the awful name is a very moral benefit. It tops up the income of the poor and isn't a substitute source of income.

The guy won 2 million dollars he bought a house, a car, and invested enough to give himself a very modest income ($5000).

Either you demand profligacy of the poor or you are very resentful of goodfortune.

With all these swipes at welfare and social care. Remember it could one day be you.

Albeit with this guy frankly he should f**king get a job already lazy bum, he can deliver pizzas in his new car.

Yes reducing car usage and encouraging public transport is a good thing.

Also keeping retirees active which bus passes do increases health imeasurably and reduces NHS costs (there's statistics!)

That said winter fuel allowance and state pension are ridiculous. If you earn above a certain level and pay your taxes, then a tax break to encourage pension investment is a much more sensible plan.

The Queen and Mick Jagger do not need a £200 top up.

And you'd get even flipping lying chavs saying "I left my bus pass at home let me on mate" except these one's would have piss bags as opposed to electronic tags.
