NewsRevue again! Page 74

So changing the subject back to comedy writing. This is the second week running Newsrevue have used my song so as Ive never had that happen before, can anyone tell me how that works? Do I get paid per week used or is that just wishful thinking?. Also is there any other similar shows like Newsrevue or Treason Show that I could attempt to send some songs or sketches too?. Any help appreciated on either question.

Messr doing a stage show in london. deadline is may 31st - more info on the writing opp page on forum. Radio Rejects do shows too - again more info in writers opp section

Ok it goes something like this.

Each 6 week run has a slice of the profit set aside for writers, for each week you have a song/sketch/line in you get a portion of it.

So if you have 3 sketches in for 3 weeks, you get 9 portions of the writers cut.

It approximates to about £40 for 6 weeks for a song, £25 for a sketch and £5 for a line for the same period of time.

At the end of 6 weeks you get sent a cheque if your earnings are at least £10 other wise they roll over.

You won't get rich.

Thank you both for replying so quickly. Sorry to bore everyone else asking questions you already know the answers too!. Thanks for the answers it's appreciated.

My all time record was 11 sketches in the first 3 weeks and 8 in the rest. I made just about £200 but I got very lucky.

Wow! Congratulations on that. There was I just happy with my one song and even that was co-written.

Ha long time ago when I was sending in about 50-60 sketches a run

Look out for occasional BBC sketch show opportunities too, with shows such as Newsjack and Recorded For Training Purposes.

You'll find them on the BBC Opps page or, as pointed out before, the Writing Opportunities section of this forum.

Thanks Mikey and friends for all the helpful replies.
