Peter Straub's a great writer. I love The Throat.
He's not bad....
Ghost Story was good and so was that one about a magician
I saw some Tennant Who earlier and whilst it was embarrasingly awful - the one where people's fat begins to come to life or some old stuff - it wasn't incredibly difficult to follow.
I've never heard of this Gaiman bloke, but if you lot rate him he can't be much good.
I try to avoid books called The Tentacles of Gnubb or similar.
Gaiman is a universally good thing.
Apart from "Good Omens" the only Gaiman I have read is "The Graveyard Book" which was wonderful.
I'm sick of hearing about bloody Gaiman.
Who is he?
About one of the most influential writers of fantasy in the last 20 years.
Best known for the Sandman that were key to the revoloution in comics in the 90s and later some just fantastic novels.
He's probably one of the best writers around these days bar none.

Who and it's bloody Gaiman agenda!!
(It's a joke! Wooh!)
A very good one it is too.
When I met Gaiman (name drop ahoy) he spoke of how when he won an award from a gay book group, it was only time his name it's self was applauded.

I feel your enthusiasm Sooty, but the wiki entry on him doesn't make me confident.
Too read about him is too make him sound fey and wanky.
But he isn't.
I would say read American Gods or Sandman A Doll's House then decide.
N.B. he cowrote Miracle Man with Alan Moore. And is as far as I know one of the few fellow writers he truly respects.
His screenwriting credits aren't that impressive. And that's me being generous.
