Proof if it were needed that Gervais and Merchant are a class act

Matthew (and Laura): hating Gervais isn't likely to be changed by just one show.

That's what I just said! :)

If you don't like his style so far, you never will.

And if you've decided to hate him to be controversial, there wouldn't be much point changing your tune now either.

Aha. Yes, so you did. I uhh... Well I'm not sure where I'm going with this.

Excellent and sums up the media and celebrity exactly. And perhaps this shows me up but the only bit I actually laughed at was the "Fish Stew" line. However was great

I loved that line too. And George Michael was greaT.

I loved loved loved it.
And I blubbed.

Did you see Karl!!

I missed him. Where was he?

He was waiting outside the Ivy with an autograph book, but didn't want Millman's. As he walked off Ricky said something about his round head!

Is it me or would The Carphone Warehouse gang make a great sitcom?

OK - let's write it. One of my first moans on here was about Mobile Phone shop staff.

It was much better than the whole of Series 2 and kind of made me like Extras again. The Darren and Barry bits are class as always. There was still some crappy bits though and Maggie has to be one of the most poorly written characters in any sitcom ever.

The message was a good one but I couldn't take it serious coming from Gervais, seen as he hungers fame more than anyone, always mingling with his showbiz and Hollywood buddies, it's just the same thing yet he thinks he's too good for "British TV", plus he's a huge fan of Big Brother! It all had a feeling of smugness about it, "Not many people achieve both fame and respect"...yeah way to big yourself up Ricky.

I agree with Leevil, they should've made the full sitcom set in a phone shop with Darren, Barry and Gaffney!

Haha! He did! That's brilliant!

Brilliant.
And the title ran with the same Prokofiev that starts my all-time favourite film - Love and Death.

I suspect further views will reveal more jokes.

But it's truuue. He's just being self aware. And he still doesn't think of himself as up with Woody Allen or whoever, he's not an arsehole. I didn't get smugness at all, but I can see where you're coming from.

Me too, strangely?

Oh god.

I think it's a sign.

What of, I don't know.
