If one is serious should one get serious about one's study?
Are any of these degrees any good?

Comedy degrees writing degrees
Who teaches on it? And what do they offer that you couldn't get from doing the circuit and attending the 'University of Life'? Who has graduated from the course?
I know a friend of a friend of a friend that's on the Southampton course. And from what I've heard, he seems to like it. I think there's a real emphasis on stand-up, rather than writing, as it's (possibly!) a little bit easier to start out there and get your material heard.
I would love to do that

I'd be inclined to say that these courses can't polish a turd. However, if you've got some drive and talent, they must be useful.
