Football related comedy

Who here is a football fan?

Who else thinks there should be some football related comedy?

"Fantasy Football League" with Skinner and Baddiel was great when it was on. Wave

Recently there was "The Fanbanta Football Show" on channel 4. It kinda sucked though. But that's what happens when you have 2 ex CBBC presenters hosting a football show.

Pirate

Think you'll find a few footie fans on here. I do have a football comdey drama that i keep going back to. Maybe one day, i'll finish the bugger.

The Renford Rejects was good.

:)

Im a fan of football fans. I enjoy watching them watch football, with their big stupid faces. Swapping their packet of cheese and onion to salt and vinegar when they go for a piss at half time so I can look at their confused faces as they stuff their mouths. Perhaps also changing their front room decor so they begin to question reality itself and flop into gibbering pools of fear on the carpet. Then laughing. And giving them a kick.

That was hilarious.

Not, I fear, in quite the way that they intended though.

Anyway, wasn't there a really poor football sitcom starring and/or written by Johnny Vaughn or Frank Skinner or something?

There was a one off comedy with James Bolam called something like 11 against 11 which was very funny. All about match fixing.
Ther was one scene where he was in a park and saw some kids playing football strangely.
"What you doing lads?"
"We're playing bung the goalie"

I had a couple of ideas - one called Hangover Rangers about a Sunday football team.

Love terrace humour.
Never saw that Rejects prog, going to look it up.

It was a kids' sitcom on Nickelodeon. Fairly unremarkable.

Don't forget Mike Bassett. When he took over that team in Liverpool they were sponsored by the local refuse collection company - and had "Wirral Rubbish" on their shirts.

football is too easily dated, i think thats the problem. also crowd scenes are tough

That Frank Skinner thing was called 'Bluebirds', wasn't it? Then there was also Alexi Sayles's radio comedy, 'Lenin of the Rovers'. Oh, and who can forget 'Jossy's Giants'?

Me!

It was a kid's show, on Children's BBC, in the late 80s.
