To the Manor Born is Returning! Page 3
Quote: Mark @ December 26, 2007, 12:59 PMDoes anyone else have any thoughts on this? Would be interested to hear them. I've not seen it myself yet.
What should be interesting is I'm going to show it to my Gran in the next couple of days - she used to love the old programme so it'll be interesting to hear her thoughts.
To The Manor Bore (come on someone had to say it).
The best I can say is that it stayed true to the original so your Gran will love but chances are your be bored.
Holding my breath for Extras, been a disappointing Christmas for comedy so far.

What about a sitcom called To the Manor Porn where to make ends meet they let out the estate for filming porn movies.

That was nearly done in the first series.
I have the original series on VHS.
I think with something like Manor Born, it depends what you're looking for. If you want a good old-fashioned laugh, with clever writing, clear constructive plotting, one-liners, cast-chemistry and good characters - then watch To the Manor Born. If you're after a laugh-free, poorly constructed hour filled with character-humilation, awkward silences and uncomfortable, cringe-worthy moments, then maybe Extras would be more your bag.
Congratulations to Peter Spence and Paul Mayphew-Archer for an enjoyable episode.

But I only laughed twice. It wasn't really funny was it.
Well I see it was a ratings triumph. Mainly out of curiosity I would think because of the length of timne since it was last on so it doesn't really prove anything for a one-off.
