Looks like I chose the wrong forum to be taking about this on! Having had sticky back plastic stuck to me all day yesterday, I am almost certain I will get a tattoo in the next few weeks. I'm not worried about the pain or how permanent it is, I'm just worried about being -well, worried! I get quite worked up about things like this, ref. when I had my cartillage piercing done, and don't reaaally want to faint! Any tips from people who have been through the tattoo process? 
Never use a dyslexic tatooist now I've got anchovy in the uk on my forehead

Take Elliot with you and make it his job to jut chat to you about ANYTHING but the tattoo. It's very easy to block out the sensation if you're distracted.

Yeah, that - or just sedate oneself with a sufficiently soothing hit of heroin*. 
Personally, I would advise against getting a tattoo. I think you'll find they are almost always vulgar - hence the wearing of them is mostly confined to simpletons, the peasant class and the criminally-minded.
